Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere revealed that the club has yet to arrange talks over a new contract, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The midfielder made his first Premier League start of the season during the goalless draw against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Wednesday night. His performance was deemed one of the few bright spots of the evening for the Gunners.

Wilshere’s contract expires in June but Arsenal are not making any moves to offer him a new deal. From January 1st, he can talk to overseas clubs but the Gunners are showing no urgency over renewing his contract.

When the club agreed to a loan deal, three Serie A sides showed a genuine interest in signing him while Trabzonspor and Real Betis are also reportedly keen on him.

Wilshere observed that no talks are underway nor has the club approached him.

“There’s not really a date in the diary,” he commented after the game at West Ham. “Nothing’s changed. We were in the same position as we were. I’ve only read what the manager’s said in the media.

“I’ve just played my first game in the Premier League, I’m concentrating on staying fit and staying in this team. That will look after itself. When it’s the right time to talk about it, I’m sure the boss will call me and we’ll have a chat.”

The midfielder has always stated his preference to remain at the club but it seems the feeling may not be mutual.
