Wilshere Set For Turin Move?

England international Jack Wilshere, 25, is set for a £25m move to Italian champions Juventus, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Arsenal midfielder played 73 minutes of Arsenal Under-23’s 3 – 2 win over Derby County last night as he seeks to return to full fitness following his ankle injury suffered at White Hart Lane whilst at Bournemouth last season.

Wilshere was one of the quintet of Arsenal players hailed as a “British core” of the squad for years to come. However, injury blighted his career with his contract now in the final year. The Gunners are reluctant to consider a loan spell for the England international without a new deal signed first.

The midfielder needs first team football if he is feature for England this season, a vital consideration in the decision over his future. Juventus offers the prospect of a high-profile move and an entirely different style of play which will continue his football education.

AC Milan, Roma and Sampdoria are all reported to be interested in signing Wilshere who rejected a move to Milan last season when a loan spell was first mentioned. He surprised everyone by moving to Bournemouth but was encouraged by their approach to nursing him back to full fitness.

The Cherries hard work is likely, it seems, to benefit someone else.
