David de Gea, 27, hasn’t spoken to Manchester United about his contract since August. The club isn’t worried, blustered a suit on his way to deliver a brown envelope to “J Mourinho, Esq.”

Not that Mourinho will be easy to find. Depending on who you believe, the Manchester United boss is scouting Milan Skriniar, 23, of Internazionale, and Alessio Romagnoli, also 23, of AC Milan, both of whom he wants to sign in January. He may not have a club by then but let’s not worry about the details.
