Barcelona offer Arsenal & Chelsea £20m Arda Turan

Arsenal and Chelsea have been given a significant boost in their chase for Arda Turan, 29.

The Turkish international has stated his desire to stay in Catalunya but Barcelona have indicated that they are willing to listen to offers of around £20m for the midfielder.

Whilst not impoverished, the Spanish champions admitted yesterday that they were priced out of the chase for Paul Pogba, 23. Manchester United are closing in on a £105m deal for the French international who was coveted by rivals, Real Madrid.

The need for money has intensified with a large swathe of their summer funds spent on Andre Gomes, Valencia’s talented 22 year-old midfielder. The two clubs have announced that they have agreed a €50m fee for the Portuguese international with just personal terms to be negotiated.

It means that Turan’s spell in the Catalan capital is drawing to a close. Signed from Atletico Madrid last summer, a transfer ban prevented him for making his debut until January 2016. Since then he has flitted in and out of the side, with manager Luis Enrique unconvinced that he will fit into the famous passing style.

Arsenal were first to enquire about Turan this summer but Chelsea are also interested as Antonio Conte looks to strengthen his squad ahead of a title challenge next season.
