Sevilla have not had the kind of season they were expecting this season.
Between underperforming players and a series of bad results, Los Nervionenses are quite far from their goal of fighting for a European berth. And knowing they need to strengthen the side soon to get better results, they have been one of the most active teams in the transfer market.
They were already linked with a move for Michy Batshuayi, but now they are reportedly pondering a move for Inter Milan’s midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, according to Mediaset Premium.
This is not the first Inter Milan targeted by Chelsea, however, as the Liga side has also been linked with a potential move for Joao Mario if the chance arises. But if Sevilla were asked on which player they would prefer, it is believed they would lean towards the Croatian instead of the Portuguese.
Brozovic has featured regularly for Inter this season, but he is behind Matias Vecino, Borja Valero and Roberto Gagliardini for a regular central-midfield role. He is looking to gain some much-needed first-team football with the 2018 World Cup only a few months away, and there is no question he would be a considerable upgrade over Sevilla’s current in-house alternatives.
Brozovic has made 14 Serie A appearances this season, registering three goals and one assist over that span.
