Everton are looking to end their woes in front of goal by launching a January bid for Sporting Lisbon striker Bas Dost.
ESPN claims that the Toffees are looking at the Dutch striker who has 15 caps to his name. Everton boss Ronald Koeman is impressed by Dost’s 41 goals in 49 appearances for the Portuguese club.
The much-travelled 28-year-old has an impressive scoring record across the Eredivisie in his native Netherlands and the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg. Dost spent four seasons with Die Wölfe, scoring 48 goals in 117 appearances. Since joining Herenveen in 2010, Dost has scored a goal every 151 minutes.
Dost was heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United last summer but Sporting moved into sign him in a €10m deal from Wolfsburg. Magpies boss Rafa Benitez believed the Dutchman would fire Newcastle back to the Premier League. Koeman is hoping Dost will score the goals to push them up the table.
Everton have been woeful in front of goal this season. Four goals in the Premier League and just two in the Europa League. Their form is such that Koeman is reported to have the remainder of October to save his job.
Koeman will hope he arrives Dost in time.
