The Dutch international, son of legendary midfielder Danny Blind, fell from grace with the Portuguese from the first training sessions eighteen months ago and has been unable to convince Mourinho that he has a future at Old Trafford.
The 27-year-old defender’s versatility means he has never nailed one position down as his own at Manchester United with Mourinho using him across the back four. This season, his seven appearances seem impressive but the stats mask United’s lack of options at the moment.
As fitness levels improve and injuries heal, Blind is set to find his opportunities become limited.
Turkish giants Galatasaray are reportedly looking at making a January bid for the Dutch international but face strong competition from Fenerbahce. However, Gala have made the early running.
Gala currently sit top of the Super Lig, three points clear of last season’s champions Besiktas. That’s the bright spot of their season so far. The Europa League proved a desolate wasteland for them with Swedish outsiders Ostersund beating them 3 – 1 on aggregate in the second qualifying round.
Blind’s arrival may give Galatasaray the defensive boost to see them land their first title in three seasons.
