Chelsea, fresh from the astonishing capture of Christian Pulisic, are set to continue their transfer activity with the sale of defender Davide Zappacosta according to the Daily Mirror.

The Italy international moved to Stamford Bridge after the Blues struck a €28m deal with Torino in 2017 but compatriot Maurizio Sarri hasn’t used the right-back since taking over from Antonio Conte in the summer.

With Chelsea needing to raise funds after their £57.5m signing of Pulisic for Premier League FFP compliance, the interest of Serie A giants Lazio is welcomed in West London. T

he Blues are wary of the scrutiny PSG are being put under for their transfer spending at a European level and determined to prove they are self-sufficient with current owner Roman Abramovich unable to enter the United Kingdom due to visa issues.

The Biancocelesti are challenging for Italy’s Champions League places and are determined not to miss out, especially with bitter city rivals AS Roma trailing in their wake this season.

A thorn in the deal is, however, the clubs’ different approaches. Chelsea prefer to negotiate an outright deal while Lazio are keen to strike a loan during the January transfer window. The likeliest compromise is a loan for the remainder of the season with an option to purchase during the summer transfer window.
