AC Milan are the latest club to show an interest in Ajax’s highly-rated youngster David Neres, reports the Daily Mail.
The Rossoneri are desperate to return to the upper echelons of European football with their new owners determined to do so with a young squad, featuring talented players with increasing future fee potential.
The 20-year-old Brazilian already caught the attention of Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United with Italian champions Juventus also sending scouts to monitor his performances. Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is a keen admirer of the youngster.
Neres’ ability led to some christening him ‘Little Neymar’ with many predicting his career will be equally stratospheric.
Since joining Ajax in a €12m a year ago, Neres has lived up to the expectations placed on his young shoulders. Three goals in five games for Jong Ajax last season was the prelude to his arrival in the senior team. In 29 games, he has 10 goals, 7 of which have come in this season’s Eredivisie.
Capped 9 times by Brazil at Under-20 level, it’s thought unlikely that he will make Tite’s squad for next summer’s World Cup finals in Russia.
Ajax though, are hoping he does, refusing to countenance any offers at this moment in time. However, speculation is rife that the Dutch club will be tempted into negotiations if a bid of €25m or more is received.
