City Tell Midfielder His Role, Confident of Deal Being Done

Isco, Real Madrid

Manchester City are confident of landing Real Madrid midfielder Isco this summer, reports talkSPORT.

So confident that the soon-to-be-crowned Premier League champions have already told the Spain international what his role will be in the side.

The 25-year-old scored a hat-trick in the 6 – 1 thrashing of Argentina in the Wanda Metropolitano last week.

City, according to Spanish television show El Chiringuito de Jugones, will double the midfielder’s salary if he takes up the playmaker role in the Citizens starting line-up.

While other Premier League sides – chiefly Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham – are interested, City’s financial firepower is such that they can outspend all three of their rivals.

The pivotal role in Pep Guardiola’s side is proving problematical for the Catalan to solve. David Silva, 32, is reaching the twilight of his career while Ilkay Gundogan, 27, has been plagued by injury problems. The former Dortmund wizard has yet to play 30 league matches in any season since he turned professional a decade ago.

Isco is highly regarded at the Bernabeu and has made over 150 league appearances for the club, winning an impressive haul of medals in the process. All domestic honours, three Champions League, three World Club Cups, three European Super Cups; all trophies which City are striving to win.

Landing the Spain midfielder will be a significant feather in the City cap and a signal to world football that the Premier League club means business.
