Arsenal are lining up Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha as the replacement for Manchester City-bound Alexis Sanchez, reports the Daily Star.

The Gunners are 3/1 to sign the Ivory Coast international, who was the Eagles star player during the 3 – 2 defeat at the hands of Arsenal on Thursday night.

For the 25-year-old it is the chance to try his luck once again at one of England’s biggest clubs after flopping at Manchester United. That spell at Old Trafford raised questions over the winger’s abilities, some of which still remain.

Inconsistency blighted the early years of his career, but performances this season are leading to interest from a number of clubs.

Palace boss Roy Hodgson recently commented that he expected big clubs to make offers for the player. The question are Arsenal must answer is whether their money will be enough to tempt the Eagles into selling their prize asset.

Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City have all run the rule over the Ivory Coast international but it’s the Gunners who are in pole position to sign him.

Arsenal are hoping rumoured interest from Paris St Germain will tempt Manchester City into making a bid for Alexis. The Premier League leaders would prefer to wait until next summer to sign him on a free transfer but Pep Guardiola is not prepared to lose out on a player who is desperate to move to the Etihad.
