There is no question that Real Madrid are having a tough time this season. In fact, they already decided to part ways with Julen Lopetegui, following the disappointing 5-1 defeat to FC Barcelona during El Clasico this past Sunday. Santiago Solari was appointed as interim manager, but a replacement is expected to be announced soon.
Regardless of that uncertainity surrounding Los Blancos, and the fact that they are going through one of the worst patches in their history, the reigning European champions still remain focused on the future with the club’s technical sector still pursuing transfer opportunities. And one of their possible new signings is currently playing in Argentina.
According to reports coming from Marca, Real Madrid are close to securing a deal for River Plate’s central midfielder Exequiel Palacios, who is all but set to sign with the Santiago Bernabeu outfit in the summer of 2019 once the current season ends. In fact, it is believed that Real Madrid are close to secure a deal said to be worth €20 million for the 20-year-old playmaker.
Manchester United, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have all been interested in the talented midfielder, who’s already getting consideration on the Argentina national tem set up. The transfer is expected to be finalized during the winter transfer market, but the player will remain with River Plate until the end of the current campaign.
