Fabinho has been linked with an exit from AS Monaco during quite some time now.
The Brazilian midfielder was linked with a move to Manchester United, PSG and Atletico Madrid this past summer, but the transfer did not happen and the former Real Madrid prospect remained with the team. However, things have taken quite a turn in recent days, and now Fabinho finds himself nearing the exit door once again.
According to a report from The Star, Manchester United look like the main favourite to secure a move for the talented, versatile Brazilian player. Jose Mourinho remains interested in the defensive specialist, and all signs indicate a move is reportedly close to completion.
In fact, the player himself ignited the rumours of a potential exit in a recent intervewi with Lance. The Brazilian said, “My time with Monaco was good, but I feel my time here is coming to an end,” and that he wants a “new challenge.”
Fabinho has registered four goals and three assists in 21 Ligue 1 appearances this season, quite an accomplishment considering he features on a deep role and as a defensive player. He is the kind of high-motor, hard-working player Mourinho loves, and he could become the perfect long-term replacement for players such as Michael Carrick and potentially Nemanja Matic.
