Everton Close On Vlasic Deal As Summer Spending Continues

Everton, one of the Premier League’s biggest spending clubs this summer, are close to agreeing a €10m deal for Hadjuk Split winger Nikola Vlasic, according to the Guardian.

Ronald Koeman has already completed a major overhaul of his squad but the arrival of 19-year-old Vlasic is a bolt from the blue. The Toffees recently faced Hadjuk in the Europa League qualifiers, triumphing 3 – 1 on aggregate thanks to Gylfi Sigurdsson’s outrageous strike early in the second half in Split. The deal was thrashed out between the two clubs during that time and is expected to be completed inside the next 48 hours.

Vlasic is a highly-rated Croatia Under-21 international, who has represented his country at every age group, as well as earning a full cap in a friendly against Mexico in May 2017. To date, the winger has made 120 appearances for his club, scoring 13 goals.

Koeman has so far spent £150m on players this summer but is still looking for another left-sided defender, as well as a striker. While the Toffees would welcome Diego Costa, 28, on loan until his transfer to Atletico Madrid can complete, it’s thought the Spanish international is reluctant to move to another English club, even on a temporary basis.

Kevin Mirallas, 29, and Ross Barkley, 23, are both set to leave Goodison Park this week with the former returning to Olympiakos. Tottenham are evens favourites to sign Barkley with Chelsea dropping to 5/2 following the acquisition of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
