Inter Milan are keen to bolster their midfield depth ahead of the 2019-20 season and while they haven’t even decided the continuity of Luciano Spalletti as manager, it seems the Serie A giants are open to make moves.
With that in mind, it’s been reported that the Serie A giants are in the hunt for Croatian duo Ivan Rakitic and Luka Modric. According to a report from Calciomercato, the Nerazzurri are keen to secure both players for a new-look midfield next season.
Even though both players are expensive, Inter could have a realistic chance of signing them both. While the Barcelona playmaker could soon find himself out of the picture at the Camp Nou with the presence of Frenkie de Jong and Arthur, Modrid has been keen to leave Real Madrid after the club blocked his move to Inter last summer.
If Inter sign both players and assuming there are no departures, Inter would have FIVE Croatia internationals in the squad. Rakitic and Modric would join Marcelo Brozovic, Sime Vrsaljko and Ivan Perisic.
These two moves would probably depend on Inter qualifying to the Champions League next season. But one thing is certain: the Serie A giants won’t be shy in trying to improve their squad if they get another chance to compete in Europe’s biggest club competition.
