AS Roma president James Pallotta declared that Alisson and Cengiz Under will not be leaving the club this summer. According to ESPN, he said the Giallorossi are “not a supermarket”.

Liverpool and Real Madrid are both being tipped to move for the 25-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper with claims that the clubs held talks with his agent recently.

After becoming Roma’s first-choice goalkeeper following Wojciech Szczesny’s departure, Alisson produced a string of impressive performances as the club progressed to the last eight of the Champions League and for a while, gave hope of a Serie A title challenge.

Under meanwhile, is being watched by Barcelona according to the Giallorossi’s sporting director Monchi. Formerly of Sevilla, he knows only too well that what the Blaugrana want, they tend to get.

This cuts no ice with Pallotta. He took to Italian radio to defend the club. “We’re not trying to just sell players,” he defiantly claimed. “We’ve tied Under down on a five-year contract, and the situation’s similar with Alisson.”

His parting shot gives a clue to the source of the leaks. “Monchi has had to face many problems due to financial fair play,” he said before continuing, “and there’s still a bit of work to do.”

“But we’ve identified many ways in which we can improve the team in the coming five years.”
