Despite a “limited transfer budget”, the Daily Telegraph claims the former Dutch international is interested in the defender, who was set to join Galatasaray in a £2.7m deal.
De Boer was the Ajax head coach who gave 21-year-old Tete his Eredivisie debut. Since then, he has made 36 first team appearances and gained 5 Dutch caps.
He was an unused substitute during the 0 – 2 Europa League final defeat to Manchester United in May. With just one year left on his contract, Tete is looking to move on with no sign of a new deal from the Dutch giants. A move to the Premier League offers a higher profile which will help with his international aspirations.
De Boer inherits a squad which has already lost Joe Ledley and Frazier Campbell on free transfers. The Dutchman has a pot of around £25m to spend and fans will expect a number of smaller value signings while the rest of the Premier League spends big.
Formerly coach of Ajax, Internazionale and assistant manager of the Dutch national squad, De Boer has yet to face a relegation battle but the upcoming season may provide that. Palace, 14th in the end, were in the dogfight until the last half-dozen games.
