Napoli have settled themselves as one of the top sides in the Serie A and are regularly linked with top players each and every summer. But this time the rumours come from the other side, as it is believed that some of the best teams in Europe are keen to make a summer move for Lorenzo Insigne.
The Italy international has been one of the most productive players for the Partenopei side in the last few seasons, so the interest in him is quite understandable. However, Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti has (once again) insisted the Serie A club has no need to sell one of their best players.
Insigne has been linked with Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal in recent weeks. However, Ancelotti said he wants to “add new players” to the San Paolo side next year, and that he isn’t planning to part ways with Insigne.
“Next year the team will improve, we’ll make suitable signings and move forward,” he told reporters after Sunday’s 2-0 win over Frosinone. “If Insigne wants to stay, we’ll all be very happy and I’ll be the most happy. We might not be able to buy a top player, but we have no need to sell either.”
It seems Ancelotti has a clear idea of what he wants next season. And with Insigne showing no indications of wanting out, all signs point to the coveted forward staying with Napoli for the foreseeable future.
Insigne, 27, has nine goals and six assists in 25 Serie A appearances this term.
