Juventus are the reigning Serie A champions and currently have one of the top attacking duos in the world in Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala. But The Old Lady want to increase their attacking depth, and have set their sights in one of the most promising forwards in Europe during the past season.
Juventus initially wanted to sign Patrik Schick from Sampdoria, but negotations fell at the last minute. And one would have thought Juventus would look elsewhere, but they have expressed interest in another young forward who impressed in the Serie A last season.
According to a report from La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Juventus are keen to sign Keita Balde Diao from Lazio in an effort to strengthen their already potent attacking line. In fact, Juventus have not been shy about their intentions to capture the 22-year-old forward and the club’s general manager, Beppe Marotta, said they already started transfer talks with their Serie A foes.
“We’ve spoken with [Lazio president Claudio] Lotito about Keita and we have made our offer, and now it is up to him to consider it,” Marotta said.
Juventus have already signed Federico Bernardeschi and Douglas Costa to bolster their attacking line, but they do not have a replacement in case Higuain goes down with an injury. And Keita could fill that void while also playing on a wider role if needed.
The Senegal international enjoyed a fine season with Lazio during the 2016-17 campaign, as he contributed with 16 goals and six assists in 31 matches across all competitions for the club.
