Can Agrees Juve Terms – £30m Move Likely

Liverpool‘s plan to keep their squad together hit a pothole with German international Emre Can, 23, reportedly agreeing terms with Juventus.

The Daily Star claims the Italian champions are willing to pay £30.4m for the dynamic midfielder as Max Allegri looks to rebuild the squad are their confidence was brutally taken away by Real Madrid in last season’s Champions League final.

Can is in the final twelve months of his current deal and has little inclination to extend his stay on Merseyside. Whilst away on the club’s pre-season tour of the Far East, manager Jurgen Klopp claimed that talks with the player’s representatives had gone well. His agent’s talks with Juventus seem to have gone better.

Rather than run the risk of Can walking away on a free transfer next summer, Liverpool are set to cash in and sell to the Italians. It hampers Barcelona’s attempts to lure Philippe Coutinho, 23, to the Nou Camp with Klopp unlikely to tolerate the heart being ripped out of his midfield.

It will put pressure on the Liverpool board to land RB Leipzig’s 22-year-old Guinea international Naby Keita. Involved in an unsavoury incident on the training ground earlier this week, Keita was accused by Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhüttl of having his “head turned” by the Merseysiders interest. RB are reluctant to sell but if Keita’s heart is elsewhere, they face a tough battle to keep him.
