Manchester City’s summer is set to re-ignite with Pep Guardiola confident of landing three prodigious talents.
Leroy Sane, 20, is a long-term target with his current club Schalke 04 signalling that they want a quick resolution to the current impasse.
Talks between the two clubs have made slow progress but Schalke sporting director, Christian Heidel, stated that the deal needed to move forward: “Like us, Manchester City also must think about itself, as both teams have to take into account the further planning in the transfer market”
Bayern Munich were also interested in the winger but his father confirmed Sane preferred the move to England.
It is understood that City are close to finalising the deal to bring Gabriel Jesus, 19, to the Etihad. ‘Gabigol’ is valued by Palmeiras at £26m and earlier in the summer, Juventus had an offer of £16.8m rejected. The Italians have yet to return with an improved bid, leaving the way clear for Guardiola.
The deal is likely to include the player being loaned back to Palmeiras with a work permit unlikely to be issued, despite the size of the fee. It would leave the way clear for the striker to represent Brazil at this summer’s Olympic Games in Rio.
The final signing in the trio of youngsters is Marlos Moreno, 19. A fee of £8m will be paid to Atletico Nacional with the player’s personal terms also agreed. Like Gabriel Jesus, a work permit is not expected to be obtained and a loan deal is being sought for the highly-rated Colombian.
