Marouane Fellaini’s days at Manchester United seem to be all but over, and it is not a secre that the Belgian international will probably end up playing elsewhere after the 2018 World Cup.
Besiktas were one of the teams interested in securing the former Everton star services, but apparently the Super Eagles now have competition on the race to sign the towering midfielder. According to a report from Belgian newspaper La Derniere Heure, Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco are also keen to make a splash for Fellaini.
The Belgian will be out of contract in June and he seems to have decided to leave Old Trafford. And considering Monaco need to bolster their midfield depth – considering players like Fabinho and Youri Tielemans are likely to leave the side – this seems like a match made in heaven for both parties. Fellaini would get the first-team football he has been looking for, and Monaco would get an experienced midfielder.
The aforementioned report indicated that AS Monaco have established initial contact with the player’s representatives, and they are expected to present their offer in the coming days.
Besiktas, PSG, and some Chinese Super League clubs have also expressed interest in the 30-year-old playmaker, who has 11 goals in 102 Premier League appearances for The Red Devils throughout his career.
