Borussia Dortmund need a new goalkeeper looking towards the 2018-19 season, as long-serving backup Roman Weidenfeller will leave the side at the end of the current season.
The team has been looking at several alternatives and they were linked with a move for Kevin Trapp. However, they have also emerged as favourites to sign Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky, according to a report from Kicker.
In fact, the aforementioned report indicated that both sides have started talking over a potential move since Hradecky will be a free agent once the current season comes to an end. The Finland international has been one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the Bundesliga in recent years, and has impressed since joining from Denmark powerhouse Brondby.
Hradecky certainly has enough experience to play for the Dortmund side, and he would be an excellent back-up option – and could even become the starter in case Roman Burki shows some of the inconsistencies he has shown throughout this season.
Hradecky was born in the Czech Republic, but he chose to represent Finland and has been the country’s number 1 goalkeeper for years now. He also knows the Bundesliga and tends to play well in big matches, so he has all the traits needed to make an impact for BVB.
