One of the biggest stories in the transfer market this summer has been the potential departure of Marco Verratti from PSG. His most likely destination was FC Barcelona, but things have taken an unexpected turn of late and Manchester United have gain ground on the midfielder’s pursuit.
According to several reports coming out from England, Jose Mourinho is decided to add another player in midfield before the season starts. And since Arturo Vidal is not going to leave Bayern Munich, the Portuguese tactician set his sights in Verratti, as he sees the Italian as the ideal partner for Paul Pogba.
In fact, MARCA reported United already contacted PSG to start transfer talks, and that The Red Devils would be willing to offer around €70 million to land the coveted playmaker. The main problem is that PSG are reluctant to sell one of their star players, and they would be open to find ways to make the transfer happen if United can increase their offer.
One of the options that has been mentioned would be to include Anthony Martial in any potential negotiation in order to sweeten the pot. However, United are not keen to part ways with the French forward after his incredible performances during pre-season.
Talks might have stalled right now, but there is no question United are keen to land the 24-year-old. Will we see him at Old Trafford in the coming weeks?
