Sky Sports claims Everton are preparing to raid Swansea City for a midfielder once again.

Having taken 28-year-old Gylfi Sigurdsson from the Liberty Stadium in a £40m deal last summer, the Toffees are one of a number of clubs looking at the situation of South Korea international Ki Sung-yeung, also 28.

The midfielder’s contract runs out at the end of next season and so far, the Welsh club has not yet agreed terms for a new deal. It means they face a decision this summer over whether to sell or keep him for one more year, letting him walk away on a free transfer in 2019.

AC Milan and four other Premier League clubs are monitoring the progress of the negotiations.

As Ricardo Carvalhal’s side struggles to stay clear of the bottom three, it’s a distraction they could well do without. The Swans sit just four points clear of Southampton and face a tough home match against Chelsea this weekend.

The Saints travel to South Wales on 8th May for a potentially decisive match.

Carvalhal wants his players focused and Ki who opened the scoring in the vital 4 – 1 win over West Ham recently is one of the squad’s most important members.
