Lautaro Martinez has been one of the hottest names available on the January transfer market when it comes to the South American region.
The Racing Club star forward has been linked with a move to Europe, as Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid have previously enquired for the services of the 20-year-old. However, both sides will now face competition for another Spanish giant who is reportedly on the race for the talented striker.
According to several reports, Real Madrid are also monitoring Martinez’s situation closely. In fact, the player himself confirmed he heard about Madrid’s interest through the press, but apparently there has not been any approach from one party to the other.
“I learned about Real Madrid from what I could read, but not much more. My agent wanted to speak to me but he was busy, so I’ll talk to him soon to see what this is about,” Martinez told Ole. The highly rated forward recently had his release clause increased to $20 million, but that is unlikely to prove a problem for the Spanish giants.
The striker has been on top form this season, and already has 13 top-flight goals to his name. Atletico, Monaco, Inter Milan and Torino are some of his other suitors and a summer exit definitely seems on the cards for the striker.
