Manchester City’s pursuit of Spanish international, Nolito, 29, is set to end in success with Celta Vigo accepting a £13.8m bid for the striker.

The right-footed winger is part of Pep Guardiola’s plans to rejuvenate City’s attack with the club actively pursuing Schalke’s Leroy Sane, 20. The former Premier League champions are ready to test the Bundesliga club’s resolve with a £30m bid.

Whilst Gelsenkirchen-based Schalke are in no rush to sell their talented youngster, they are believed to prefer selling him to an English club rather than strengthening Bayern Munich further with the Bavarians hovering.

Schalke are preparing for life after Mane with enquiries made for Swiss international, Breel Embolo, 19, their preferred replacement.

Guardiola knows Nolito from his time as Barcelona chief where the player made five appearances before moving on to Benfica and Granada. He joined current club, Celta Vigo, in 2013 and has 103 appearances for the Galicians, scoring 39 times.

It’s form which brought him belated international recognition with Vincente Del Bosque awarding him his first cap in the 2014 friendly against world champions, Germany. Nolito found his scoring boots for Spain at the right time, netting four times in the lead-up to Euro 2016, where he added another goal to his name in the 3–0 win over Turkey.
