The worst kept secret in football has finally been confirmed today as Manchester United have sacked Louis Van Gaal and appointed Jose Mourinho, 53, as their new manager.
With Mourinho now confirmed attention has moved to the players he will bring with him to Old Trafford and the £200m transfer budget he has to work with.
It has been reported the Portuguese manager has made the following four players his top priority, and instructed the United hierarchy to sign them:
John Stones, 21, the Everton player will be approached as a long term partner in central defence with Chris Smalling, and will be available for £50m.
Andre Gomes, 22, Valencia star has been in fantastic form, anchoring the midfield at the Mestalla all season, earning a call up to the Portugal national team.
Joao Mario, 23, has been a long term target for Mourinho, the player has also enjoyed a solid season for Sporting Lisbon and would command a £25m transfer fee.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 34, the Swedish hit-man has previously worked under the Special One at Inter, winning the treble and is now out of contract.
With a £200m transfer budget to spend, the speculation has just begun on how Mourinho’s Manchester United will line up at the start of next seasons Premier League in August.
