Benfica are braced for a quartet of bids from the Premier League this summer, according to talkSPORT.
Newcastle United are the latest club to show an interest in Argentine winger Franco Cervi joining Brighton and Hove Albion, Swansea City, and West Ham United in monitoring the 23-year-old’s performances.
Hailing from the same city as Lionel Messi, and former Eagles central defender Ezequiel Garay, Cervi’s nickname is “Little Chucky” in the Estadio da Luz. He moved to the Portuguese giants in 2016 after three seasons with Rosario Central.
Cervi featured in 28 of Benfica’s 31 games so far this season, scoring three goals and providing eight assists. This is on top of the six goals he scored in 34 games last season.
The Eagles currently sit second in Liga NOS, two points behind bitter rivals FC Porto with the recent 1 – 0 home defeat to Jose Mourinho’s club costing them dear.
Newcastle’s interest is sparked by the belief that the club cannot afford a permanent deal for Brazilian winger Kenedy, 22. A season-long loan deal with Chelsea might be their only solution to the problem but Rafa Benitez would prefer a permanent solution. Interest is gathering for the youngster leading the Spaniard to look at Cervi as a possible solution.
