Sevilla have been looking to bolster their midfield depth during the upcoming January transfer window. Even though the likes of Ever Banega, Steven N’Zonzi and Guido Pizarro offer decent alternatives, manager Eduardo Berizzo wants to add a more creative player to the mix. And Los Nervionenses have found their prefered target.
According to a report from talkSPORT, Sevilla seem set to beat everyone on the race to land Javier Pastore, as the Argentinian playmaker is keen to leave PSG as soon as possible. The Ligue 1 giants need to part ways with several players due to the fact they need to sell in order to comply with the Financial Fair Play rules, and the former Palermo starlet is one of the expendable players for head coach Unai Emery.
Sevilla are set to find stiff competition to land Pastore, though, as both Liverpool and Chelsea have been linked with the signing of the Paris Saint-Germain star as well. Inter Milan and AS Roma have been mentioned as alternatives too, but neither side seem able to beat Sevilla. Roma are worth watching closely, though, since Monchi knows Pastore quite well since his days as PSG’s sporting director.
Pastore has not lived up to expectations since joining PSG a few years ago, and the 28-year-old has reportedly been shown the exit door. He could join the Andalusians in a £17.75 million deal.
