One of the biggest prospects in the Argentinian Superliga is set to make a jump to Europe, and it might happen sooner than later.

According to a report from Argentinian outlet TYC Sports, Lautaro Martinez could be on his way out to Borussia Dortmund in a move that could be completed in the coming weeks. The player’s father revealed he has had informal talks with the Bundesliga side regarding his son’s potential move to the German outfit during the winter transfer window.

“We met with them [Borussia Dortmund representatives], it was an informal chat, a dinner, but there is still nothing concrete yet,” Mario Martinez, father of Lautaro, told TyC Sports.

“But we are in talks. They came to the game and I think they got a taste of what Lautaro can give, which is what they came to see,” he added.

The same report indicated that Borussia Dortmund representatives were at La Bombonera to watch the Racing striker play in Sunday’s game at Boca Juniors, and then met both Martinez and his father for a rather informal dinner. Dortmund is yet to submit an offer for the player, but he is one of the options they are currently evaluating.

Those scouts can feel quite happy with what they saw of the 20-year-old striker. Martinez registered a goal and an assist in Racing Club’s 2-1 win over Boca Juniors this past weekend, a result that put an end to Boca’s undefeated run in the Argentina Superliga.

Martinez is under contract with Racing Club until June 2020 and has also been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid. He currently has a €9 million release clause in his contract, a very affordable price for some of the top teams in the world.
