The respected US sports magazine sensationally claims that “a source with firsthand knowledge” told reporter Grant Wahl that Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, has been in contact with elite clubs in Europe to generate interest in his client.
To date, they report, there have been no takers.
Speculation has been rife over the France international’s future in recent weeks after he was dropped from the Manchester United squad by manager Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese reportedly denied Pogba was for sale but claimed his treatment was to elicit improved performances from the £89m signing.
His form has been disappointing this season and United are continually linked with a host of midfield stars who can ease the pressure on the still relatively young Pogba. Mourinho believes the midfielder finds the scrutiny and pressure of his fee an overwhelming burden.
Reports that the signing of Alexis Sanchez, 29, from Arsenal have caused issues for Pogba have been vehemently denied.
It’s not the first time his Old Trafford career hit the rocks. His initial spell at the club ended in acrimony when he walked away after refusing to sign a new deal. Juventus snapped him up in a move which left Sir Alex Ferguson, then-United boss, with a bad taste in his mouth.
