Benfica are set to add one of the most prolific strikers in the Liga MX over the course of the 2018-19 Liga MX season, as they are only details away from adding Nicolas Castillo, from Pumas UNAM, during the upcoming transfer window.

The Portuguese side had always been keen to add at least another striker for the upcoming 2018-19 season since they wanted to add some competition for Raul Jimenez, and Castillo seems to have beaten all the other candidates for the job.

It is believed that Benfica will offer a five-year contract to Castillo, although the potential salary has not been announced. But Castillo, a Chile international with previous experience in Europe, shouldn’t have problems to contend for a starting spot.

Castillo enjoyed a stellar season playing for Pumas, as he scored 17 goals in 28 matches for the Liga MX side – between regular-season and playoffs – in his lone season with the club. He already has had experience in Europe since he had played for Club Brugge (Belgium), Mainz (Germany) and Frosinone (Italy) but wasn’t very successful.

Castillo has also won nine caps – with one goal – for Chile throughout his career, and he figures to be an important part of both club and country going forward.
