Newcastle United are one of four clubs reportedly tracking Real Valladolid defender Mohammed Salisu.

The 20-year-old Ghanaian centre-back, who currently plays for the Liga side and has manages to become a consistent starter despite his age, could be on his way to the Premier League in the coming weeks if the rumours deem to be true.

According to the site Pucela Fichajes, a source that tracks Valladolid’s transfer rumours on a daily basis, The Magpies wouldn’t be the only side looking to acquire the youngster. Everton, Sevilla and Schalke 04 would also be keen on making a push for the talented defender.

The 20-year-old centre-back wouldn’t be very expensive either. He is believed to have a release clause in the region of £10 million, a relatively cheap figure considering how much money teams are spending in young players these days. And the fact that he plays for a small-market team such as Valladolid shouldn’t drive his value very high, either.

Salisu has already made 13 appearances for Valladolid. The towering defender has started more than 90% of Valladolid’s matches this term, scoring once and receiving two yellow cards.

Salisu joined Valladolid when he was a youngster, and he was promoted to the first team in July this year after a successful campaign with the “B” squad last term.
