Adam Lallana has been one of Liverpool’s most consistent players over the past few years, but the former England international has not been able to carve a regular role at Anfield. And that situation might push him towards an Anfield exit in the near future.
According to several reports, Lallana has been linked with a move to PSG during the upcoming January transfer window. It’s not clear whether the 31-year-old wants to leave The Reds, but the Ligue 1 giants are reportedly interested in boosting their midfield depth with the arrival of the former Southampton star.
One of Lallana’s potential reasons to decide in favour of leaving Liverpool might lie on his lack of a regular first-team role. He is currently behind Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Naby Keita when it comes to playing time. However, who says things might change at PSG?
Right now, the Ligue 1 giants have Marco Verratti, Ander Herrera and Idrissa Gueye — just to name a few — for central midfield roles. Lallana does not appear to be a more attractive option than any of those three players at the moment.
Lallana has not played more than 20 times (in all competitions) in each of Liverpool’s last two seasons, and he seems to be on track for a third straight of those campaigns in 2019-20. But if he moves to PSG, then he might not have a lot of playing either considering the competition for a midfield berth.
