Real Madrid might be coming off a win against PSG in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League’s Round of 16 tie, but that has not stopped media and pundits alike to speculate on who will be the team’s new signing next summer.
Names such as Mauro Icardi, Harry Kane and Eden Hazard have been linked with a potential move to Santiago Bernabeu, but other name got linked in recent days. According to Spanish media outlet Don Balon, Los Merengues are pursuing Manchester City‘s star playmaker Kevin De Bruyne.
It is not a secret that Florentino Perez wants to alter the squad and spend money to create a new version of Los Galacticos, and De Bruyne would certainly fit that mold. He has evolved into one of the best players in the world, and Madrid are ready to offer “whatever it takes” to acquire the attacking midfielder.
In fact, Don Balon reported that los Blancos could offer up to €200 million for the Belgian midfielder while offering a significant pay rise from his current deal at the Etihad Stadium.
Of course, everything will depend on whether Manchester City want to part ways with one of their best players, but that does not seem likely. De Bruyne is in the midst of another stellar season with The Citizens (7 goals and 14 assists in 27 Premier League outings this term) and it is hard to imagine any potential scenario where the current EPL leaders will want to sell him.
