Alexis Sanchez’s tenure at Manchester United could be close to come to an end. The Chilean forward is yet to play for The Red Devils this season, and he is not expected to feature on Monday against Wolverhampton either. The reason is that he is quite close to secure a season-long loan move to Inter Milan.

The Chilean was rumoured to be demoted to The Red Devils’ reserve squad this past week, but those rumours have been denied by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. What was real was Alexis’ desire to leave Old Trafford before the end of the transfer window, and Inter have reportedly taken advantage of that chance to lure him back to the Serie A.

Inter would secure Sanchez on a season-long loan move, although it’s not clear if the Neroazzurri side will have the chance to purchase the Chilean before the start of the 2020-21 campaign. Manchester United will also reportedly pay some of Alexis’ wages in order to facilitate the Chilean’s move to Italy.

If the move completes, it would be Sanchez’s second stint in Italy’s top-flight. He previously played for Udinese between 2008 and 2011.

Sanchez is coming off a poor season with Manchester United in the 2018-19 season, scoring just once in 20 Premier League appearances for the Old Trafford side.
