Claudio Marchisio will probably go down as one of the most loyal players to ever feature for Juventus. However, even the best things come to an end at some point, and the talented midfielder has officially left Juventus.
The veteran playmaker is now a free agent and there is a lot of speculation regarding on where could be his next destination. There has been talk of teams in both the MLS and the Chinese Super League getting interested in the the midfielder. But the Premier League champions, Manchester City, were also mentioned.
At least on paper, it makes sense. Kevin De Bruyne will miss three months with a lateral collateral ligament injury in his right knee, and media began speculating that Pep Guardiola could look at the midfield maestro to provide cover for the Belgian.
However, Pep denied there were any talks to even consider a move for Marchisio and judging by the tone of his words, that is not going to change any time soon.
“No,” Guardiola told a news conference Friday. “In December, we are going to see what happens in the [next] transfer window but now the squad is the squad.”
Marchisio could be open to play in the reigning Premier League champions, but it seems that’s not going to happen. At least not until Pep Guardiola leaves Manchester City.
