It is not a secret that Atletico Madrid are trying to prepare for life after Antoine Griezmann, as the French forward is more and more likely to leave the team during the upcoming transfer window or, at worst, after the 2018 World Cup.
With that in mind, Los Colchoneros are beginning to search the market for a potential replacement. And one name that has gathered enough interest in Manchester United‘s forward Anthony Martial, according to a report from local outlet Le 10 Sport.
Martial could fit quite well in the Wanda Metropolitano outfit, though. Like Griezmann, he is a pacey player who can operate all over the attacking third, and Manchester United have employed him both as a striker or as a left winger. His best role is the one of a winger, though, where he can take advantage of his pace.
It remains to be seen whether The Red Devils want to sell Martial, though. The Frenchman is a bit disappointed with the lack of first-team opportunities he has had at Old Trafford this past season, and would be open to an exit. But considering he is just 22 years old, Atletico would have to spend an important sum to acquire him.
The 22-year-old has shown a great deal of promise since joining The Red Devils three years ago, scoring 24 goals in 86 Premier League appearances, but he never quite managed to nail down a regular starting berth. Will he manage to do that elsewhere, or will he fight for his place at Old Trafford?
