Sergio Ramos, 30, has been subject to a record £63.5 million transfer bid from Chelsea according to reports in Spain.
The Real Madrid defender would break the current English record transfer of £59.7m, if the deal to Chelsea goes through.
Previously Ramos was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, having spent his entire career in Spain for Real Madrid and Sevilla.
Spanish news outlet Don Balon has claimed that the Blues have initiated the first bid to sign Sergio Ramos, seeing him as an ideal replacement for John Terry.
Incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has made it clear that a new central defender is his top priority and sees the Spanish international an ideal candidate.
Conte has yet to rule out a new contract offer for John Terry, however this may depend on the signing of Ramos.
