Liverpool continue their search for a goalscoring attacking midfielder with Brighton and Hove Albion star Pascal Groß the latest target, according to the Daily Mirror Daily Mirror.

The 27-year-old was a key player in the Seagulls successful fight for Premier League survival last season with seven goals and eight assists. This time around, he has been less prolific with one goal and no assists albeit having been held back following a series of injury problems.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp may be familiar with Groß from scouting reports whilst in charge at Borussia Dortmund. However, by the time the Ingolstadt 04 squad containing Groß reached the Bundesliga, the dentulous Klopp had left the Westfalenstadion.

Liverpool need depth in their squad with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, 25, missing the remainder of this season and Adam Lallana, 30, besieged by injuries over the past two seasons. Klopp, with his team sitting atop the Premier League and through to the Champions League last sixteen, is determined to bring in a player who can compete in both competitions.

The German tried to buy Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir, 25, during the summer but was rebuffed by the French club. While the signing of Groß won’t ignite the same excitement within Liverpool fans, Klopp is more concerned about the player’s ability to service his frontline.
