If you haven’t heard the name of Kai Havertz, then you’re not paying enough attention to either the Bundesliga or the UEFA Europa League. Bayer Leverkusen’s teenage sensation has taken the world by storm in this 2018-19 season, and the 19-year-old prospect is quickly becoming one of the best players in Germany’s top-flight.
And this has led to some of the best teams expressing interest in signing him. In fact, it is believed that both Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are keen to make a move for the talented attacking midfielder, according to a report from Sport Bild.
Havertz already made an impact last season when he finished the campaign with three goals and nine assists during his debut season, but he has taken things to another level during the current term, with six goals and six assists already, something surprising considering the season hasn’t even reached its mid-point yet.
His numbers have been more than enough to attract the two Liga powerhouses, but they’re not the only teams interested in Havertz. Both PSG and Manchester City have been tracking him closely for quite a while now, but it seems the two Spanish giants remain in pole position to potentially sign him as soon as next summer.
Havertz is contracted to Bayer Leverkusen until 2020 and is currently valued at a whopping €80 million. However, it is expected that Leverkusen will ask for a bigger sum in order to part ways with their star youngster.
