It is not a secret that Manchester United have lots of alternatives at the centre-back position. Even though the team did not add any central defender during the transfer period, they already feature a number of viable alternatives such as Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo.
However, Rojo could be the odd man out in the equation if the recent transfer rumours are true. The Argentina international does not figure to have a big role with Jose Mourinho this season, and Fenerbahce would be open to capitalise on that to bring him to the Turkish Super League.
There are no details available on a potential move, but it is believed that United would only accept a permanent transfer since they wouldn’t be interested in sending the former Estudiantes LP star on a loan move.
Rojo signed with Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon in 2014 and has since racked up 107 appearances for the Old Trafford side, although he has also dealt with several injuries,k particularly during the last two seasons. He has bagged two goals for The Red Devils.
Rojo also has a decent amount of international experience since he has won 59 caps for La Albiceleste and has three goals, including a key one during the 2018 FIFA World Cup group stage against Nigeria.
