Rumour: Juventus step up chase for Everton rebel Romelu Lukaku

Juventus are ready to offer Romelu Lukaku, 23, the Champions League football he craves. The Everton striker has made no secret of his desire to move to a bigger club this summer and the Italian champions are ready to answer that call.

The Belgian international was a rare bright spot in Roberto Martinez’s final season in charge at Goodison Park and his successor, Ronald Koeman, is hoping to persuade Lukaku that the good times will return to the blue half of Merseyside.

He faces an uphill battle with the striker claiming before the start of Euro 2016 that he is ready to take on a new challenge. In March, he told Sky Sports, “’I will be 23 in the summer and I think it would be nice to play in the Champions League from next season. That is the next step for me.”

A move to Turin satisfies that desire and whilst new Everton owner, Farhad Moshiri, may try to tempt Lukaku with a new contract, the club can’t match his ambitions. Koeman has made a new goalkeeper his top priority but will need to find a striker as well with the Belgian on his way out of the club.
