Inter Milan have been looking to sign a centre-back for quite a while now. Even though the presence of Joao Miranda and Milan Skriniar has been good enough for now, it is not a secret that manager Luciano Spalletti would like to have at least one more alternative in the position solely to increase the team’s depth on that role.

And based on recent reports, Inter might be details away from fulfilling the coach’s requirements. According to a report from Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the Serie A giants have reached a deal with Benfica to sign Argentine defender Lisandro Lopez.

The same report has indicated that both clubs have reportedly agreed on the terms of the deal. It will be a six-month loan that will also include a buy-out clause believed to be worth between €8M to €11M.

There is no question this is a great move for Inter, as they have acquired a coveted centre-back who has been a target for some of Europe’s biggest clubs in recent weeks. But despite that, Lopez has failed to settle as a regular at Estadio da Luz, and registers just 32 league appearances for The Eagles in a three-and-a-half-year span.

Lopez’s best moments arguably came when he enjoyed a loan stint with Getafe, as he thrived in LaLiga. He will now get a chance to prove his worth in the Serie A, and a positive tenure with Inter could maybe lead him to an extended tenure in the country.
