Manchester United striker Anthony Martial rejected a new five-year deal with the club and is set to leave Old Trafford this summer, according to French media outlet RMC.

The 22-year-old signed for United from AS Monaco in 2015 in a deal which required a £35m down-payment and with bonuses, might be worth £58m for the Ligue Un outfit. It made him the most expensive teenager in the world, a record which will be shattered when Kylian Mbappe makes his move to Paris St-Germain permanent.

The French champions are one of the clubs poised to swoop if the France international leaves Old Trafford. While the striker wants to stay in the north-west, he views his career as stalling with United boss Jose Mourinho seemingly unconvinced by his abilities.

Marcus Rashford, the England international striker, has forced his way to the head of the queue at Old Trafford and is more frequently called upon by Mourinho this season. With the arrival of 30-year-old Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in January, Martial’s opportunities in the first-team are becoming more limited.

With his contract expiring in 2019, Martial’s future may be resolved this summer with United keen to cash-in rather than losing out on a potential fee in twelve months’ time.
