West Ham to seal Arthur Masuaku £15m transfer deal

A flurry of transfer activity at West Ham is set to the the Londoners bring in French left back Arthur Masuaku, 22, from Greek giants, Olympiakos.

First choice left back Aaton Cresswell has suffered a knee ligament injury which means he will miss the first four months of the season.

Bilic approached Arsenal with a view to bringing Kieran Gibbs to the Olympic Stadium on a season-long loan. The Gunners though have their own injury problems and were in no mood to let the England international leave even though he has slipped down the pecking order at the Emirates.

The Hammed also failed to land David Santon from Inter Milan. The former Newcastle player failed a medical after the two clubs had agreed a fee.

Masuaku joined Olympiakos from Valenciennes in 2014 and was pivotal as they landed back to back Greek titles. He has been capped at junior international levels by France and a move to the Premier League would raise his profile.

With the Hammers in the Europa League qualifying play-off, the experience Masuaku gained in the Champions League could prove invaluable for Bilic. Olympiakos were surprisingly eliminated from this season’s competition by Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva.
