Andre Gomes has not had the kind of season he was expecting at FC Barcelona, and the struggle has been real for the Portugal international. However, he has a big chance to depart the Camp Nou outfit in search for more first-team minutes, and could get his wish granted in the Premier League.

According to several reports, Tottenham Hotspur are absolutely interested in making a move for the former Valencia star, as they have reignited their interest to acquire the talented – yet inconsistent – playmaker.

Gomes’ chances of playing for Barcelona on a regular basis were already slim, but the arrival of Philippe Coutinho could end up being the catalyst needed to depart from the club. With his playing time likely to be limited going forward, Los Blaugranas could try to cash in on the Portuguese international.

Manchester United and West Ham United have also been interested in the Portugal star, but it is believed that the Spurs are leading the race for his signature, per the Sunday Express. It is also believed that Tottenham’s boss Mauricio Pochettino is absolutely in love with Gomes’ playing style, and would be keen to sign him as quickly as possible.

Gomes will be Tottenham’s backup plan, however, as they were previously interested in Ross Barkley but the former Everton star decided to join Chelsea instead.
