With Paris St Germain under investigation for breaches of Financial Fair Play regulations, any player who isn’t nailed down risks being sold. Lucas Moura, the 28-year-old Brazilian international, is being urged to leave the Parc des Princes for a new north London home at Arsenal.
And according to the Evening Standard, the man doing the urging is none other than former Chelsea centre back, Alex.
Moura hasn’t feature in the PSG starting line-up this season, a decision by Unai Emery that Alex believes is damaging his countryman’s career.
He wasn’t slow to voice his opinion that the Gunners are the best club for Moura. “They play cleaner football, more technical,” Alex declared.
He went on to drop a bombshell that the North London club were close to signing the Brazilian international capped 38 times. “He had contacts, I believe. That would be a good option for him this winter.”
With Alexis Sanchez, 28, high on PSG’s list of targets, the potential for a deal involving Moura as a makeweight can’t be ruled out in the January window.
It’s an ignominious end to his time in Paris. After joining in 2012, he has made over 200 appearances for the Ligue Un leaders but it seems not many more will be added to that tally.
