Borussia Dortmund will enjoy the last of Christian Pulisic in the coming months since the American midfielder has already agreed to join Chelsea ahead of the 2019/20 season. However, the Bundesliga giants are already working on his potential replacement.
There are lots of alternatives, but The Yellow Bees have already looked at one specific player. He goes by the name of Thorgan Hazard. The Monchengladbach midfielder has been playing at a very high level and several teams have already enquired the Bundesliga side regarding his availability.
Hazard would fit perfectly in Dortmund’s system since he can operated on a free role or as a winger on either flank. His creativity is certainly a plus and this season he has demonstrated a keen eye for goal, as evidenced by his nine goals and six assists in 17 starts during the current Bundesliga campaign.
The biggest roadblock here would be Borussia’s reluctancy to part ways with the talented playmaker, arguably their best player during the current term. In an interview with Kicker, sporting director Max Eberl told reporters: “I have not given up on him. Thorgan feels comfortable with us at Gladbach and that is a success story.”
Hazard is under contract until 2020 but is yet to extend his current deal. Dortmund could take advantage of that opportunity and sign him during this month if the chance arises.
